Moorings

Faculty & Staff

Our teachers bring a wealth of knowledge & experience to The Moorings Presbyterian Preschool. Our staff’s talents & outstanding qualifications make Moorings Presbyterian Preschool the special place it is. All teachers hold a bachelor’s degree early childhood education, child development, or a related field. More than half our staff holds advanced degrees in early childhood education, child development or education. One hundred percent of our faculty has numerous years of teaching experience, in public & private schools.

Working in unison, our teachers are the pillars of the Moorings. Our faculty works together as classroom teams.  They incorporate current research & ideas into their planning & daily practice.  Our faculty participates in 10-15 hours of continuing education each year.  All faculty & staff are background checked through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement & F.B.I. & hold current certification in First Aid & CPR.

Director: Melissa Kay

I am thrilled to be a member & director of the Moorings Presbyterian Church Preschool Community! I have been impressed by everyone’s commitment to the school, church, & families, collective thoughts on the strengths of the faculty, & vision for the future.  I am eager to greet all of you & your children this fall!

My aim for this next year is to support all community members through the transition, provide guidance & care in times of need, strengthen our partnership with the church, & lead with grace & positivity. I will work closely with children, teachers, church members, families, & the Preschool Committee to ensure that our team approach is successful in serving our community. As with any change of leadership, I am sure that there will be bumps in the road but with the common goal of serving our students, we will prosper & grow. Honoring & respecting the past work that has been done under Nanette Rathbun’s tutelage & collaborating to create a path for the future as a leader in early childhood education in Naples is the goal. I look forward to engaging in conversations to get to know each of you & ensure our ongoing positive relationships.

The Best of Professionals

At The Moorings Presbyterian Preschool, our teaching staff brings to the program a wealth of experience in early childhood education, as well as a deep commitment to our young students. We have worked together to develop a learning environment that is both challenging & nurturing. Most importantly, we believe that children learn best when accepted & encouraged by the adults around them, whether at home or school. Be assured Moorings is a happy place to grow & learn.
• 100% of our teachers hold Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education or Child Development;
• 60% hold Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education or Child Development;
• 100% of our specialists hold degrees in their respective fields.
The Moorings Presbyterian Church, in its outreach to the larger community, has blessed us with a safe & pleasant environment. We are fortunate to enjoy the use of the Sanctuary, Baker Family Life Center, & Moss Hall.
We understand the importance of good communication & are always interested in knowing about special events & happenings within your family. We encourage you to visit us at the preschool & join in school activities.
